San Clemente is a beach side city in Orange County, California. The city motto is the “Spanish Village by the Sea.” The motto comes from the combination of San Clemente’s sea side location and the high number of Spanish Colonial style homes. The city was incorporated in February of 1928. With a population of approximately 64,000 residents, it is a mid-size city. San Clemente is surrounded by Dana Point on the north, Oceanside on the south, Fallbrook on the east and the Pacific Ocean on the west. Students living in San Clemente attend schools in the Capistrano Unified School District. The city is served by six elementary schools: Truman Benedict, Concordia, Las Palmas, Clarence Lobo, Marblehead and Vista del Mar Elementary Schools, three middle schools: Bernice Ayer, Shore Cliffs and Vista del Mar, and one high school, San Clemente High School. The high school is well known for its extracurricular surfing program, winning six recent NSSA National Surfing titles. There are 14 private schools in San Clemente including California Virtual Academy, Our Lady of Fatima Parish School, Creekside Christian School, and Talega Preparatory Academy.
San Clemente has wonderful year round weather, making it the perfect place to take advantage of the outdoors. Well known for its terrific surfing, there are swells throughout the year.
