Irvine is a large size city located in Orange County, California. This dynamic city encompasses 66 square miles. Irvine’s population is approximately 225,000 residents. The city was originally begun in the 1960’s by the Irvine Company as a fully mastered planned city. Irvine was incorporated in 1971 and has the city mission statement "to create and maintain a community where people can live, work, and play in an environment that is safe, vibrant, and aesthetically pleasing." Irvine has in recent years been named one of the best cities in the US, to live in and one of the safest cities in the US by the FBI.
As a master planned city, Irvine is made up of 32 smaller sections called Villages. Each village is home to several residential developments, schools, parks, green spaces and shopping and dining areas. Among the many different villages are Airport Area, El Camino, North Park, Northwood, Oak Creek, Orangetree, Quail Hill, Rancho San Joaquin, Turtle Center, Woodbridge, Woodbury, University Park, University Town Center, West Irvine and West Park. Each one of these areas has a variety of property types including condos, downtown lofts, duplexes, townhouses, villas, single family homes and custom built estates with golf course views. Home prices range from $250,000 to 15 plus million dollars. Home prices are dependent on home size, location, property size, view, home finishes and neighborhood amenities. Irvine homes have views of the surrounding canyons and hills, city night lights, green belt, golf course and evening sunsets. There are guard gated, gated and non-gated developments to choose from.
There are two schools districts that serve Irvine students; Irvine Unified School District and Tustin Unified School District. Irvine Unified School District is made up of 22 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, 4 high schools and 1 continuation high school. The Tustin Unified School District is made-up of 17 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, 2 high schools and 1 continuation high school. There are 29 private schools throughout Irvine that enroll approximately 4,400 students. In addition, Irvine is home to many colleges and universities: the University of California at Irvine, Concordia University, California State University Fullerton—Irvine, University of Southern California, Brandman University, Alliant International University, University of LaVerne, Chicago School of Professional Psychology – Irvine, Pepperdine University, Irvine Valley Community College, Santiago Canyon Community College and Orange Coast Community College.
Irvine has gorgeous year round weather due to its Mediterranean like climate. This is the perfect place to take advantage of the many outdoor activities offered throughout the city. There are parks in every village. There are two very large parks in the city; OC Great Park and Irvine Regional Park. The Irvine Regional Park offers miles of trails, lakes, sports courts and a train with train rides. The beaches in Newport Beach are just minutes from Irvine.
