Fountain Valley is a mid-size city in Orange County. The city was incorporated in 1957. Fountain Valley population is approximately 55,000 residents. This nine square mile city is bordered by on the east by the Santa Ana River, Costa Mesa on the southeast, Santa Ana on the northeast, Garden Grove and Westminster on the north and Huntington Beach on the south and west sides. The city motto is “A Nice Place to Live.” Fountain Valley is 30 miles south of Los Angeles and 85 miles north of San Diego.

The Fountain Valley School District is made-up of nine elementary schools, three middle schools, three high schools, one kindergarten to 12th grade school and two kindergarten to 8th grade schools. Students living in certain sections of Fountain Valley attend Huntington Beach Union High School District high schools; Fountain Valley High School and Valley Vista High School. The Garden Grove Unified School District has both elementary schools and a high school which Fountain Valley students attend. This district is home to the blue ribbon award winning Allen Elementary School. The Ocean View School District has only one school which Fountain Valley students attend, Ocean View Middle School. Fountain Valley has three colleges; Coastline Community College, Orange Coast College and Golden West.
Like most Orange County cities, Fountain Valley has a Mediterranean like climate. With beautiful year round weather, it is a great place to enjoy outdoor activities. Fountain Valley is home to the 640 acre Mile Square Regional Park. This park has three 18 hole golf courses, sports fields, two lakes, an archery range, an urban nature area and picnicking area. The nature area is 20 acres of Native California plants. In addition, Fountain Valley has a 55 area recreation center with a full basketball court, tennis courts racquet ball courts, senior center and a community center. Overall, Fountain Valley has more than 20 parks located throughout the city.
